Bed Bugs
They live everywhere, not just in your mattress. Bedbugs can hide in furniture and behind wall coverings…and you are on the menu.

Getting rid of bed bugs is not an easy process. Bed bug infestation will require treatment by a pest control expert.. We at Clark Pest Remey are very concerned with the latest news reports concerning the spread of bed bugs. The insects are spreading quickly through luggage, hand bags, and purses.

Bed bugs have feasted on sleeping humans for thousands of years.  Perhaps spurred by increases of overseeas travel, bed bugs are becoming a problem once again.
The risk of encountering bed bugs increases if you spend time in places with high turnovers of night-time guests — such as hotels, hospitals or homeless shelters. Bed bugs are reddish brown, oval-shaped, flat, and about the size of an apple seed. During the day, they hide in the cracks and crevices of beds, box springs, headboards and bed frames. And Surrounding items within 10 ft. of hosts. It’s a daunting task to eliminate bed bugs from your home. Professional help is recommended. A female bed bug can lay more than 200 eggs in her lifetime, which typically lasts for about 10 months. Newly hatched bed bugs are nearly colorless, so they are hard to spot. They shed their skin five times as they grow, and need a blood meal for each molt.
While bed bugs are often reported to be found when sanitation conditions are poor, bed bugs can also live and thrive in clean environments.
Bed bugs can live in any area of the home and can reside in tiny cracks in furniture as well as on textiles and upholstered furniture. They tend to be most common in areas where people sleep and generally concentrate in beds, including mattresses, box springs, and bed frames.
Other sites where bed bugs often reside include curtains, edges of carpet, corners inside dressers, and other furniture, cracks in wallpaper, and inside the spaces of wicker furniture.
We are equipped with the latest technology to exterminate bed bugs and to assist in minimizing the outbreak. We are offering FREE INSPECTIONS of your home or business.

Bed Bug Travel Tips

Bed Bug Travel Tips
Survey any and every hotel room for signs of a bed bugs infestation. Bed bugs are not a sanitation issue, which means they can be found in any hotel or motel – from a one-star to five-star location.
Signs they are present? Large infestations of bed bugs can create a musty, sweet odor, like soda pop syrup. They leave behind brown or red spots on sheets. While not known to spread disease like many other pests, bed bugs can leave itchy, bloody welts on the skin. (Welts more commonly appear when the victim is sensitive to insect bites.)
Lift and look. Bed bugs tend to settle in close proximity to their food source – you! During the day these nocturnal insects disappear in crevices associated with mattresses, box springs, sheets, furniture, upholstery and hollow bedposts, as well as crevices behind baseboards, pictures and even torn wallpaper. Make sure to lift and look around all possible hiding spots for bed bugs in the hotel room, not just the mattress.
Elevate your luggage and other items. Carefully inspect the hotel’s luggage rack. If there are no signs of bed bugs on it, use it to keep your suitcase off the floor and away from the bed. Also pull the luggage rack away from the wall. This will reduce the likelihood of the insect crawling up the wall and getting into your things.
Examine your luggage while repacking and once you return home, to ensure you haven’t picked up unwelcome visitors. Bed bugs are great hitchhikers, so be sure to check your luggage and clothing for bed bugs before bringing luggage back into the bedroom.
Professional help is out there – use it! Because bed bugs can survive extreme temperatures (up to 113 degrees Fahrenheit) and are extremely difficult to kill, treating for an infestation requires the use of a licensed, professional pest control operator with specific experience treating for these pests.

Bedbugs or bed bugs are small parasitic insects of the family Cimicidae (most commonly Cimex lectularius). The term usually refers to species that prefer to feed on human blood. All insects in this family live by feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals. The name 'bedbug' is derived from the insect's preferred habitat of houses and especially beds or other areas where people sleep. Bedbugs, though not strictly nocturnal, are mainly active at night and are capable of feeding unnoticed on their hosts.

A number of health effects may occur due to bed bugs including skin rashes, psychological effects and allergic symptoms. Diagnosis involves both finding bed bugs and the occurrence of compatible symptoms. Treatment is otherwise symptomatic.

Bedbugs have been known by a variety of names including wall louse, mahogany flat, crimson rambler, heavy dragoon, chinche, and redcoat. Largely eradicated as pests in the developed world (primarily through the use of DDT) in the early 1940s, bedbugs have seen a resurgence since about 1995.

Bites and Concerns

Bed bugs usually bite people at night while they are sleeping. They feed by piercing the skin with an elongated beak through which they withdraw blood. Engorgement takes about three to 10 minutes, yet the person seldom knows they are being bitten. Bed bugs normally do not reside on people like head or body lice ? immediately after feeding they crawl off and reside elsewhere to digest their meal. Symptoms after being bitten vary with the individual. Many develop an itchy red welt or localized swelling within a day or so of the bite. Others have little or no reaction, and in some people the reaction is delayed. Unlike flea bites that occur mainly around the ankles, bed bugs feed on any skin exposed while sleeping (face, neck, shoulders, back, arms, legs, etc.). The welts and itching are often wrongly attributed to other causes, such as mosquitoes. For these reasons, infestations may go a long time unnoticed, and can become quite large before being detected. The likelihood of bed bugs increases if the affected individual has been traveling, or had acquired used beds or furnishings before symptoms started to appear. Bed bugs also are suspect if you wake up with itchy bites you did not have when you went to sleep. Conversely, it is important to recognize that not all bites or bite-like reactions are due to bed bugs.

Confirmation requires finding and identifying the bugs themselves, which often requires the help of a professional.
